These 2 lenses are superb combo for the full frame dslr. Still awaiting for some test shots to blow me off! Hehehe!!!

Enough for the display item…lets touch some real stuff here. There were 2 shooting stages with super bikes together with hawt models for us alpharian to shoot at. There were a couple of cameras on the display portal which we can test play with. So, here is a photo taken with the flagship dslr model, A900 paired with CZ 24-70mm F2.8…

>Sony Alpha Convention 2008 – The Launch!

>Last month, on the 10th, I attended a 3 days photography convention at Le Meridien, KL and it was held by Sony for the Alpha users, be it A100 till A700 users…all together was 400 pax.

During the convention there were speakers from abroad as well as local providing 8 topics to share with all of us. I’m so content gaining valuable thoughts and experience from professionals with different specialties.

Okay, I did take some photos through out the 3 days, so I guess probably it will take up 2-3 posts to complete this event posting…hehehe….

During the registration…it’s so packed….so crowded….

DSC00545.jpg

I think Sony should take note on this where the registration and redemption counter should have more space to queue…

George Wong, Sony Alpha Product Manager did highlighted to all of us before the convention commences that we all must attend the first day…the opening….cause there will be surprised for everyone…..

So…when everyone was in the hall….and when the lights dim….Sandra, the Estee Lauder Model Search champion holding the flagship model of Sony Alpha…the A900 walking towards the stage and George announced it’s officially launched in Malaysia and it’s available in the market on the same day itself.

DSC00597.jpg

The Giant poster taken with Sony Alpha A900 by Choen Lee (top photo, he’s on the right most)was revealed…

DSC00598.jpg

Everyone was like thrilled with it’s sharpness and details that the 24.6 megapixels 35mm full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor can delivered to the prints.

DSC00593.jpg

There were also some announcement on the price slashing for all the Sony lens (which was indeed a good news) except for Carl Zeiss lens…though price drop…but still can’t afford to get any of them yet….sigh….

Wokay…lets cut it short…not important one skip…then here comes the next day…during Darren Chang workshop, we all got a chance to hands on the studio lighting in Automotive photography….first time having such good experience to shoot with studio lighting.

Here are my 2 shots taken using the radio transmitter to trigger the studio lights.

>Un-boxing New Toy…

>Before we went to Pavilion to had our dinner, we were initially at Sungai Wang. I was so eager to get my new toy in my palm….but before I introduce to you my new toy…I did send away my old unit first….

F56AM-R.jpg

This was the previous top of the range flash unit from Sony which was re-branded from Konica Minolta. It was a good flash and it served me well for more than a year…

But at this time…Sony introduced the new flagship model and the features really attract me a lot….I can’t stop thinking of it….and so….here it comes…

DSC00325-R.jpg

I was surprised by the pricing…it’s cheaper than the HVL-F56AM…but the features are a lot better…..

Here…I’m gonna show the un-boxing part….which really thrilled me a lot…

F58AM-R.jpg

I really enjoy recording these as it marks a new item in my collection list….

Here I’m going to briefly state the advantages of this new flash unit over the old one….

F58AM2-R.jpg

I love the built in bounce card which offers more conveniences when you need one simple bounce with fill-in flash. Now, here you can see the flash sync port and the external power terminal were nicely placed beneath the flash with a good and sturdy rubber cover which in turns assuring not to accidentally open it.

The battery-chamber door is built a lot better compare to the F56 whereby it has a metal spring thingy connecting it so that it won’t feel like breaking it easily when open and close. And not to left out…the flash recycle rate has gone faster than the previous model…and it really helps a lot when you’re on the field.

Now the flash head can bounce upwards up to 150 degrees and an additional 10 degrees downwards from the normal position for close-up usage.

Now the main selling point of this flash was the Quick-Shift bounce where by when shooting in the portrait position, you can set the same bounce flash as that used when shooting in the landscape position and also use the control panel at proper direction. It really looks kewl when you are on the field with others with flash guns which can’t do the same way you does…LoL!!!

It looks handsome mounting on my A700 and it does weigh heavier…but still it’s nice to grip. Now I’m enjoying even more shooting with it….

>My New Shoes

>DSC00198 copy.jpg

I’ve wanted to get my self a pair of new all round sports shoes (i.e. can go for gym…hiking…) but what to do…since my previous badminton shoes already wore off till I felt that I could have easily injured my foot at anytime….so I’ve scouted around Mid Valley for a new pair…but no fate…it’s either no size available or it’s too ugly for me. Hence I end up bought it in Seremban

DSC00201 copy.jpg

At first…I wanted to look for a pair of Yonex…but to no suitable for me….

After having a few look at it…I thought it could be used for my gym session as well since it’s an indoor sports shoes….

DSC00206 copy.jpg

I would’ve regretted if I didn’t choose it…cause I’m loving it so much….

Another thing to promote in the end of this posting….

Sony Convention.jpg

I just got my confirmation email from Sony. Yippee!!! I’m attending! Woot! Say HI to me if you are there!

>Sony Alpha Seminar

>Last Saturday I went to a seminar hosted by Sony for it’s Alpha DSLR community at Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

DSC03112.jpg

DSC03098.jpg

On that day, we had couple of special announcement which are all related to the Alpha Community such as new alpha community forum, a forum formed in with alpha + fanatics, hence it’s www.alphanatics.com. A total new forum board migrated from the previous AMC which is under Sony care.

Okay…the main highlight was not those announcements…but it’s these….

DSC03111.jpg

2 topics by 2 valuable speakers, Ted Adnan and Darren Chang. Both topics were quite interesting….but only one problem with me….I have been too long never sit down for long hours listening on something….it’s really tiring… =_=”

But something happy is on the way….and if you can actually read from the leaflet above….we’re actually provided with a very good lunch by the organizer…we’re had Arabian Opulence buffet lunch and it was fantastic…..

DSC03090.jpg

I didn’t take much photos in there…..but I sure won’t miss these out…

DSC03092.jpg

DSC03096.jpg

Wah!!! Very full….and quite satisfied with the food there….then we back to continue our seminar…and bla bla bla….and finally it ends and it’s time to go home and before this….there’s a set of survival kit waiting for us out there…there we go…..

DSC03124.jpg

We had a big Alpha rain-resistance bag containing…Alpha umbrella, Alpha T-Shirt, Alpha Vest, Alpha memory card holder, Alpha watch, Alpha notebook sleeve, Alpha scratch-resistance bag and a Alpha cap.

This survival kit is totally free…the seminar was also free…the food was free…wah!!!…everything also free from Sony….Sony Alpha ROXX!!
